Rita Matias: "The country comes out defeated by continuing to have a minister who is not suitable"

Now11 September 2026 at 00:59

Rita Matias, from Chega, stated that the country comes out defeated by continuing to have a minister who is not suitable, in reference to the motion of censure presented by her party against the Government. The Chega initiative was commented on by Joana Mortágua, from the Left Bloc, who considered it a media stage maneuver with no practical effects on the government official in question. Mortágua highlighted that the Left Bloc's vote did not change the outcome of the vote, given that the motion had no chance of passing. The Left Bloc member added that André Ventura knew the country did not want early elections, suggesting that the initiative was more of a communication strategy than a genuine attempt to change the composition of the Executive.
