Flamengo announces signing of defensive gem from São Paulo football for under-16 team

Flamengo announced this Thursday the signing of defender Matheus Garay, 16 years old. The young defender arrives on loan from Sfera, from São Paulo, and signed a contract until the end of 2027. The red-and-black club has an option to purchase the player definitively.

Matheus Garay was born in February 2010, is 1.88 meters tall and plays on the left side of defense. He had been one of the highlights of Sfera, which won the last São Paulo State under-17 Championship.

The defender was targeted by other Brazilian clubs before signing with Flamengo. The investment meets the club's desire to seek left-footed defenders to develop in the youth categories.
