The British magazine The Economist stated that the Supreme Federal Court (STF) has become a threat to Brazilian democracy. The publication was made on the magazine's website this Thursday (10) and covered the latest episodes in the institutional crisis of the Court. The magazine described the crisis as an institutional dysfunction that is undermining confidence in the country's institutions.
The editorial, titled "When the defenders of democracy have turned their backs on you," points out that the STF appears amid a corruption scandal described as repugnant and increasingly growing. The publication highlighted Alexandre de Moraes's decisions during the trials related to January 8, his involvement with the Banco Master case, and the dispute with André Mendonça as the center of the crisis.
The magazine also highlighted the relationships between Moraes and Daniel Vorcaro, referring to the former banker arrested since March as a playboy. The publication pointed to the wear on the Court on the eve of the October elections.
