The fourth edition of Granfondo Serra D'Ossa was presented on September 10 at the Castle of Alandroal, at a ceremony that marked the return of one of the main cycling events in the Alentejo. The event takes place on October 4 and expects to bring together around 1700 participants from various parts of the country and abroad, including people from 33 different countries.
The event once again unites, by bicycle, the municipalities of Alandroal, Vila Viçosa, Borba, Estremoz and Redondo, crossing some of the main landscape and heritage scenery of the Serra d'Ossa. Cyclists can choose between three routes: the Granfondo, with 143.9 kilometers, the Mediofondo, with 108.3 kilometers, and the Minifondo, with 60.8 kilometers.
João Cabreira, CEO of Cabreira Solutions and responsible for the organization, explained that the focus is mainly on small organizational details to improve the athletes' experience, since the routes maintain the matrix of previous editions due to the need to pass through all municipalities. The responsible person highlighted the sustained growth of the event since the first edition, which started with 1200 participants.
For João Grilo, mayor of the Municipality of Alandroal, the event represents an affirmation of the territory and the capacity of the five municipalities to work together. The mayor highlighted the economic impact of the event, expecting the accommodations in the five municipalities to be fully booked during the event, and considered that the best way to promote a territory is to allow people to experience it.
