The governor of Paraná Ratinho Junior (PSD) is considering taking a leave from the state's leadership to dedicate himself to the campaign of his successor, former Infrastructure Secretary Sandro Alex (PSD), who appears behind in the polls against senator Sergio Moro (PL-PR). The possibility was discussed during a press conference held on Wednesday.
Ratinho Junior has played a central role in the strategy of his ally Sandro Alex's candidacy. The governor has frequently participated in campaign ads aired on television in support of the candidate and has attended campaign events held throughout the state.
In addition to public endorsements, the governor has also acted directly in confronting former Lava-Jato judge Sergio Moro, who is a candidate for the Senate for PL-PR. Ratinho Junior's administration is considered well-evaluated by the Paraná population, which may represent an asset for his ally's campaign.
According to Ratinho himself, the campaign is very short, which would have motivated the discussion about a possible temporary departure from office to dedicate himself exclusively to supporting Sandro Alex in the final stretch of the elections.
