Helena Afonso, the eldest daughter of singer-songwriter José Afonso, known as Zeca Afonso, has died. The José Afonso Association (AJA) paid her a tribute, remembering her as "the determined and combative woman" she was.
Helena Afonso was the daughter of the author of emblematic themes of Portuguese music and social intervention, such as "Grândola, Vila Morena," a song associated with the April 25, 1974 Revolution. Her death was reported by the association that keeps the memory of the Alentejo singer alive.
