"Moving forward is the way, giving up is forbidden"

SAPO Notícias10 September 2026 at 21:10

The community of Guidões said goodbye to Father José Ramos on August 30th, the date on which the priest celebrated his last eucharist as parish priest of that community. The ceremony marked the end of several years of service leading the parish.

Father José Ramos leaves the parish of Guidões after the dispensation granted by the Bishop of Porto, which had been announced in July. This decision closes a cycle of religious leadership in that community.

Although he has left the position of parish priest in Guidões, Father José Ramos continues to serve in the parishes of Alvarelhos and Covelas, remaining active in religious service.

The priest, affected by health problems, left a message of hope by stating that "moving forward is the way, giving up is forbidden," demonstrating courage and optimism in the face of the new phase of his life.
