Paraná achieved the best educational indicators in Brazil in 2025, according to three different assessments: Ideb, Saeb, and PISA. The state obtained the highest results in its historical series in the Ideb, advanced in the Saeb, and ranked first in Brazil in all four competencies assessed by the PISA, which is coordinated by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The three indicators measure different dimensions of education. The Saeb assesses student learning in Portuguese Language and Mathematics. The Ideb combines student performance with school progression rates. The PISA verifies the ability of 15-year-old youth to apply knowledge in different areas.
In PISA comparisons, Paraná surpassed both the national average and the second-place state, São Paulo, in all assessed areas. In Science, the state recorded 461.6 points against 408.5 for Brazil and 442.6 for São Paulo. In Reading, there were 458 Paraná points against 408 for the country and 433.7 for São Paulo.
