Anthony Garotinho, former governor of Rio and candidate for Republicanos, was the fourth interviewee in the series of interviews by GLOBO, Extra, Valor and CBN with candidates for state governor. In the interview, which lasted an hour and a half, he sought to position himself as a counterpoint to other former occupants of Guanabara Palace.
Garotinho's main target during the interview was former governor Sérgio Cabral (MDB), who became unpopular after Lava-Jato investigations. He directed attacks and accusations at more than a dozen politicians throughout the interview.
Garotinho was also questioned about his successive party changes, which included support for both Cabral himself and current governor Cláudio Castro (PL), another of his recurring targets. The Republicanos candidate sought to minimize these party switches and the difficulty he faces in securing support from factions within his own party in this election.
