The City Council of Castelló did not deliver the Gold Medals of the City or the cravats, the highest honors it grants, having converted them into 10 recognitions to people and institutions distributed in four categories: Culture, Sport, Festivities and Traditions, and Outstanding Institutions in economic, social and educational development of the capital.
This decision was made by the municipal government formed by PP and Vox to pay tribute to ten people from Castelló within the framework of the celebration of the 775th anniversary of the Privilegi del Trasllat, thus finding an alternative formula after the controversy that prevented the delivery of the distinctions on June 23rd.
The lack of consensus among the four municipal groups, where total agreement is required according to the Regulations of Honors and Distinctions, made it impossible to award the Gold Medals to PortCastelló and the Ateneu, as well as the delivery of the cravats to the Germandat dels Cavallers de la Conquesta, the Moros d'Alqueria and the Colla del Rei Barbut, which would celebrate their 75th, 50th and 50th anniversaries, respectively.
