Two hundred and eight people in conditions of slave labor were rescued in Minas Gerais during a national operation carried out by the Ministry of Labor and Employment last month. In total, approximately 480 workers were located across the country, with Minas Gerais leading the ranking of rescues, followed by the states of São Paulo and Amazonas.

Among the workers rescued throughout Brazil, 13 were children and adolescents, while 66 were foreign nationals, mainly from Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Guinea-Bissau.

The activities that concentrated the highest number of workers in slave-like conditions involved civil construction in general and the cultivation of coffee, onion, and potato.

In Estrela do Sul, in the Alto Paranaíba region, 44 workers who worked on potato and coffee farms were found without access to bathrooms, registration, or formalization of their employment contracts. Twenty-three of these workers are foreigners, from three countries located in Africa, while the Brazilians rescued are from the Northeast region of the country.
