Volta System collects over 305 million packages in five months

Diário de Leiria10 September 2026 at 18:30

The Volta System has collected over 305 million packages in just five months of operation. This number represents a significant milestone for the packaging recycling and return system implemented in the country.

The growth in the use of the collection network has been consistent throughout this period. More and more consumers have been using the available drop-off points to return their used packaging.

Currently, the average return of packages to the system is around five million units per day. This daily volume demonstrates the high level of public participation in the collection program.

The Volta System emerges as an environmental solution aimed at promoting recycling and the circular economy, encouraging citizens to return packaging for subsequent treatment and reuse of materials.
