Ruben Alves returns to directing with "Santo António – O Casamenteiro de Lisboa", a comedy that has already arrived in Portuguese cinemas. After the success of "A Gaiola Dourada", the director now presents a film that, although a comedy, is not as light as it may seem, acquiring blockbuster airs.
The film explores the loneliness of a Lisbon that the authors consider "for sale", addressing themes such as the transformation of the city and the isolation of its inhabitants. Ruben Alves and actor João Catarré served as guides to the Expresso newspaper, traversing the "resistant" places of downtown Lisbon.
