Portugal needs energy and water independence, says minister

Portugal needs to achieve independence in both energy and water, according to the Minister of Environment and Energy. The official defended this position as a priority for the country.

Regarding water, the minister highlighted the need to find a balance between water that is retained and water that is not retained in ecosystems. This balance is considered fundamental for the sustainable management of water resources.

The Minister of Environment and Energy warned that too much water retention can also cause significant environmental problems. Among these problems are the lack of sand on beaches and excessive salinization of soils and water resources.
