EU asylum applications fall to 2021 levels in the first half of the year

The number of international protection applications submitted in the European Union fell 17% in the first half of the year, reaching levels similar to those of 2021, according to data released today by the European Asylum Agency (EAA). This reduction represents a significant decline in the flow of asylum applications in EU countries during this period. The EAA is the body responsible for collecting and analyzing data on migration and international protection in the European area. The figures now known mark a reversal of the growth trend that had been observed in previous years.
