The president of the United States, Donald Trump, stated on Wednesday that the war against Iran should only end after the midterm elections, in November. During the statement, Trump said he believes the conflict will be ended immediately after the vote, because, according to him, the Iranian leadership can no longer resist.
The Republican also stated that oil prices should only drop after the elections, which will determine the composition of the American Congress. The statement was made on the way to Texas, where Trump participated in the first Republican Party convention focused on midterm elections.
During the event, Trump acknowledged the dissatisfaction of some Americans with the rise in fuel prices, but argued that the economic impacts are the result of the current geopolitical tension with Iran.
