The Federal Police points to Deputy Mario Frias (PL-SP) as a member of the political core of the group investigated for suspected diversion of parliamentary amendment funds to the producer of the film "Dark Horse," a biopic of former President Jair Bolsonaro. According to the police filing, the parliamentarian "maintains close relationships with various individuals and companies that benefited from public funds."
The request sent to the Supreme Court (STF) to authorize the operation carried out on Thursday states that the continuity of the criminal organization's activities "is evident, notably through the high volume of public funds moved through the accounts of the Instituto Conhecer Brasil belonging to Karina Gama." Karina is a partner of Go Up Entertainment, the production company responsible for Bolsonaro's film.
The PF also reports that there were "attempts to conceal evidence of fraud" after audits began by the Comptroller General's Office (CGU). The operation was authorized by the Court and carried out on Thursday.
