São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) praised on Thursday, the 10th, the performance of Supreme Court (STF) President Edson Fachin amid the crisis among the Court's justices. Tarcísio said the decision made by the minister could bring more "legal certainty" and expressed hope that he can overcome the current moment of tension at the court.
Fachin suspended on Wednesday the rulings by Justices André Mendonça and Flávio Dino, who had determined, in opposite directions, the removal and reinstatement of Andrei Rodrigues as head of the Federal Police. The Court's president maintained the director-general in the position and centralized the handling of the deadlock at the STF Presidency.
The governor stated that he has criticized the lack of legal certainty and direction in recent days, but came to praise Minister Fachin's stance. In Tarcísio's assessment, Fachin's decision represents an attempt to organize the functioning of the Supreme Court.
