GOVERNMENT RECOGNIZES MPOX OUTBREAK

Angola's Ministry of Health declared that the country is experiencing an mpox outbreak, officially recognizing the spread of the disease in Angolan territory.

Since 2024, Angola has cumulatively recorded 442 confirmed cases of mpox, which resulted in two deaths. The first case in the country was confirmed on November 16, 2024.

The Secretary of State for Public Health, Carlos de Sousa, provided an update on the epidemiological situation of the monkeypox virus in Angola, presenting statistical data on the evolution of the disease in the country.

During the declaration, Carlos de Sousa addressed the main prevention and combat measures against the spread of the disease, within the framework of the government's efforts to contain the outbreak.
