A show with 2,977 drones lit up the sky over New York Harbor on Wednesday to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The event was organized to pay tribute to the victims of the tragedy.
The show recreated the silhouette of the Twin Towers, the iconic buildings that were targeted in the terrorist attacks a quarter of a century ago. The number of drones used corresponds exactly to the number of fatalities from the attacks.
The September 11, 2001 attacks resulted in the deaths of 2,977 people, a number that was also represented by the number of drones used in the event. This 25-year milestone represents a symbolic date for the American population and for the victims' families.
