Sancidino Silva, a former Benfica academy player and contemporary of names like Bernardo Silva and João Cancelo, has a new challenge ahead. At 32 years old, the Portuguese-Guinean was announced as a signing for Al Irshad, a club competing in Lebanon's second division. The winger worked with several coaches during his development at Seixal, including Bruno Lage, João Tralhão and Hélder Cristóvão, forming part of a generation that would go on to produce some of the biggest talents in Portuguese football.
Sancidino left Portugal in 2018, when he transferred to Lausanne in Switzerland. Since then, he has built a career marked by various international experiences and stints in quite different leagues, but never in top-tier football. After his Swiss adventure, the player represented Ararat Yerevan in Armenia, before heading to Saudi Arabia to play for Al-Taraji, then in the third tier of football in that country.
His journey also took him to Cyprus, where he wore the shirt of Ermis, thus completing an international trajectory that now brings him to Lebanese football. With this transfer to Al Irshad, Sancidino Silva continues his eclectic career away from the major European stages, seeking new challenges at a more mature stage of his sporting life.
