The Public Prosecutor alleges that the Lena group paid almost 2.4 million euros to José Sócrates to obtain privileged support in the competition for the construction of social housing in Venezuela. This accusation was presented at the beginning of the trial of the former government official.

José Sócrates, former Prime Minister of Portugal, denied the accusations presented by the Public Prosecutor. According to the defense, the advantageous deal by the Lena Group was reportedly negotiated by Paulo Portas during Pedro Passos Coelho's Government.

The trial takes place in the context of a judicial process that involves alleged crimes of corruption and influence peddling. The Public Prosecutor maintains that the payments made by the business group were intended to guarantee undue advantages in the public tender.
