Sociedade Musical de Pevidém, a collective from Guimarães, achieved first place in an international competition dedicated to philharmonic bands in Spain. The competition featured the participation of bands from various countries, and the Portuguese formation stood out among the competitors, securing the top spot on the podium. The second prize was awarded to Banda de Vilela, from the Recreational and Musical Association of Vilela, which meant that two Portuguese bands occupied the first two places in the ranking.
The victory represents a symbolic return to the same stage where, in 2015, Sociedade Musical de Pevidém won its first major international prize. More than a decade later, the collective returned to Aranda de Duero to repeat the triumph. The band highlighted that the result was the fruit of months of preparation, rehearsals, and dedication on the part of the musicians, conductor Vasco Silva de Faria, the board, collaborators, families, and all those who supported the project.
The institution also praised the support received from the Municipality of Guimarães and the Parish Council of Selho São Jorge, considering that this support has been decisive for the growth of the institution and for achieving internationally significant objectives. Sociedade Musical de Pevidém also acknowledged the high artistic level of the other formations present at the event, mentioning Agrupación Musical Sauces de Cartagena, Banda Sinfónica de Ciudad Real, Banda de Churriana de la Vega, and União Musical de Redován.
