PS-Madeira warned that the region recorded 228 deaths by suicide and self-inflicted injuries between 2015 and 2024, representing an approximate average of 23 deaths per year.
The data was highlighted by the party in a Vote of Greeting that was submitted to the Regional Legislative Assembly on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, celebrated this Thursday, September 10.
Of the 228 deaths recorded in this period, 174 were men and 54 were women, revealing a significantly higher incidence in the male population.
PS-Madeira used this data to call for attention to the issue of suicide in the autonomous region.
