Pre-agreement between the Government of Aragon and forest firefighters: these are the main conditions

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General10 September 2026 at 13:43

The Government of Aragon and the forest firefighters' strike committee reached a pre-agreement at the Aragonese Mediation and Arbitration Service (SAMA) to improve the working conditions of the wildfire fighting service. The understanding, announced by the UGT union, establishes the basis for moving towards a more stable service, with more staff, full working days and salary improvements, although it still needs to be finalized in a definitive agreement.

The meeting lasted several hours, starting at 9:00 AM on Wednesday and continuing until 1:30 AM in the morning, when the pre-agreement was reached. The UGT union was responsible for informing about the result of the negotiations between the regional executive and the representatives of the forest firefighters.

Among the main objectives of the pre-agreement are the reinforcement of the firefighting staff, the regularization of working hours to full schedules and the implementation of salary improvements. These measures aim to create a more stable firefighting service with better conditions for the professionals who comprise it.
