Landlords in Portugal can increase rents up to 2.56% in 2027, according to data from the National Statistics Institute. This value represents the average price variation used for the annual rent update in the country.

The value set for 2027 is higher than what was applied in the previous year, which means that landlords now have a greater margin to proceed with rent increases on their properties.

The annual rent update is a mechanism provided for in Portuguese legislation, which allows landlords to periodically adjust rent values according to price evolution in the economy. This process is calculated based on official indicators from INE.

Tenants in Portugal thus face a new maximum increase in their rents, which may have an impact on the household budget of those who live in rented homes.
