MOTA-ENGIL "OFFERS" THE LOBITO CORRIDOR TO CHINA

The Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil is pointed out as determinant in China's control over the Lobito Corridor, in Angola, according to an article published by CEDESA (Center for Studies on Economic and Social Development of Africa), signed by Rui Verde.

The Lobito Corridor is a railway mega-project that aims to link the Atlantic to the mining interior of Africa, facilitating the export of minerals such as copper.

The West is betting on this infrastructure to reduce dependence on the Chinese market, but paradoxically Mota-Engil, through its participation, may be reinforcing China's influence in the region, which CEDESA classifies as the "Chinese Paradox".
