OE 2027: Export incentive package can strengthen the country's economic resilience

Jornal de Negócios10 September 2026 at 13:00

Portugal faces a context of greater geopolitical instability that requires measures to strengthen the country's attractiveness beyond simply reducing the tax burden. This is the perspective of the lawyers consulted on the State Budget for 2027.

The specialists argue that OE 2027 should prioritize the simplification of the Portuguese tax system, making it clearer and more efficient for businesses and investors.

Given the reconfiguration of global supply chains, the lawyers recommend that Portugal bet on a structured export incentive package. This measure aims to strengthen the country's economic resilience.

The reinforcement of these export incentives is considered a key contribution to Portugal's ability to cope with current global challenges.

Florida's Economy Is Now Worth Almost as Much as All of Brazil's, BEA Reports

Florida's economy reached approximately US$ 1.835 trillion in 2025, representing about 80% of Brazil's estimated GDP of US$ 2.28 trillion, a difference of US$ 445 billion between the American state and the entire country. With just 23.5 million inhabitants across a territory of 139,000 km² — compared to Brazil's 213.4 million people across 8.5 million km² — Florida ranks as the fourth-largest state economy in the US and would be the 14th largest in the world if it were a country. The state's nominal GDP grew 41% over four years, driven by diversified sectors including finance, healthcare, technology, and logistics. The Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation attributes this success to the free enterprise model, low taxes, and lighter regulation, with a goal of positioning the state among the top ten global economies by 2030.
