The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, adopted throughout this Wednesday a package of emergency measures to try to contain the serious internal crisis that erupted last week among the magistrates of the court. The crisis reached a significant level, leading the president of the court to intervene directly to restore order.
Among the measures adopted, Fachin removed powers from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who was ahead of important functions within the court. This decision represents one of the main actions of the emergency package implemented by the president of the STF.
The internal crisis among the Supreme ministers gained repercussion in the week prior to the measures, generating tension among the magistrates of the highest judicial court in the country. The conflict between the court's members motivated Fachin's intervention to try to control the situation.
Fachin's measures seek to restore stability and the proper functioning of the court, which was facing a moment of intense division among its members. The emergency package indicates the gravity of the situation that shook the court in recent weeks.
