Florida's Economy Is Now Worth Almost as Much as All of Brazil's, BEA Reports

Florida's economy reached approximately US$ 1.835 trillion in 2025, representing about 80% of Brazil's estimated GDP of US$ 2.28 trillion, a difference of US$ 445 billion between the American state and the entire country. With just 23.5 million inhabitants across a territory of 139,000 km² — compared to Brazil's 213.4 million people across 8.5 million km² — Florida ranks as the fourth-largest state economy in the US and would be the 14th largest in the world if it were a country. The state's nominal GDP grew 41% over four years, driven by diversified sectors including finance, healthcare, technology, and logistics. The Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation attributes this success to the free enterprise model, low taxes, and lighter regulation, with a goal of positioning the state among the top ten global economies by 2030.
