260 thousand euros to maintain Community Centre

The Municipality of Santa Cruz will ensure the continuity of the Community Centre of Achada do Barro – José Jesus Reis, located in Santo António da Serra, through a programme-contract with the Association for Community Development of Funchal – Garouta do Calhau. The municipal support may reach 260 thousand euros over the years 2026 and 2027, with 130 thousand euros allocated per year. The Community Centre has been in operation since September 2025 and offers activities aimed especially at the adult and elderly population of the region.

STF rejects action against INSS medical expertises by telemedicine and documentary analysis

The Supreme Federal Court rejected, by majority vote in a virtual session, a Direct Action of Unconstitutionality (ADI 7949) that contested the performance of INSS medical expertises by telemedicine or documentary analysis through the Atestmed system. The action, presented by the National Association of Federal Medical Experts (ANMP), questioned the amendments to Laws 8.213/1991, 14.724/2023, and 15.265/2025 that allow the granting of benefits without an in-person examination. The entity argued that the change transformed the expert's work into simple verification of documents produced by the insured party. The STF considered the remote analysis of medical documentation for Social Security benefits purposes to be constitutional.
