Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Supreme Federal Court, cancelled the statement he had announced earlier, after being removed from the rapporteurship of the fake news inquiry and seeing a trial session scheduled that could open an investigation against him. The Court reported that the statement will be rescheduled for an appropriate date.
The measures now surrounding Moraes were determined by the president of the highest Court, Edson Fachin, after a series of decisions that opened an unprecedented crisis at the Supreme Court. Fachin saw a picture of conflicts that constitute serious harm to public order and the integrity of the STF.
The crisis began when André Mendonça ordered the Federal Police to identify the interlocutor of former banker Daniel Vorcaro in messages. The corporation indicated that the recipient of the texts was Moraes.
Later, Moraes used PF intelligence reports to attribute alleged partiality and crimes to the rapporteur of Operation Compliance Zero, worsening the conflict scenario among the Court's ministers.
