The intelligence reports on the crisis in Ceuta, declassified by the Government, intensified the criticism from the parties supporting Pedro Sánchez's Executive. The governmental partners question the management of the situation by the Executive regarding the massive entry of migrants in May 2021.
Podemos and ERC directly called for the resignation of those responsible for the crisis. ERC considered that the Executive must assume political consequences for how it handled the prior alerts from the Centro Nacional de Inteligencia (CNI) about the migratory flow.
PNV adopted a more moderate position, questioning both the "lack of tension" in the alerts issued by the intelligence services and the "correlative laxity in their reception" by the Government, trying to find a balance between criticism and support for the Executive.
Other parties such as EH Bildu and Coalición Canaria coincide with the Government's interpretation, considering that the prior alerts from CNI cannot be considered an official warning nor were they transmitted in a convenient manner, thus exempting the Executive from direct responsibility.
