Goalkeeper Samuel Soares kept another clean sheet and achieved his third consecutive away game without conceding a goal in the league. This feat had not been achieved by Benfica for 30 years, since the 1995/96 season.
With this sequence, Samuel Soares equalled the historic record of Michel Preud'homme, the legendary Belgian goalkeeper who represented Benfica in the 1996/97 season. At the time, Preud'homme also did not concede any goals in the first three away trips of the League, against Gil Vicente, União de Leiria and Salgueiros.
Throughout history, Benfica have only managed to keep a clean sheet in the first three away games of the league on five occasions: 1967/68, 1980/81, 1990/91, 1996/97 and now 2026/27. Samuel Soares thus became the fifth goalkeeper to achieve this historic feat.
