The European Commission will present, in the first quarter of 2027, a comprehensive legislative package to strengthen the competitiveness of the European banking sector and combat market fragmentation. The announcement was made by the European Commissioner Maria Luís Albuquerque.
The package comes in a context of concern about the fragmentation of the European banking market and the need to make the sector more competitive. The measures aim to create more favorable conditions for banks to operate throughout the European Union.
The presentation is scheduled for early 2027, when the European Commission intends to launch this large-scale legislative initiative for the European financial sector.
