Asylum requests in the European Union fall back to 2021 values

The European Union received 332 thousand asylum requests, a value not recorded since 2021. This number represents a significant decrease in the number of requests submitted in the community bloc.

The reduction in the number of asylum requests maintains a trend that began at the end of 2024. This gradual decrease has been observed over the past months in the European space.

The data refers to the total asylum requests received by the European Union member states, covering all types of requests submitted by international protection applicants in the community territory.
