The 75 elderly people affected by the fire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon in a nursing home in Darque, in Viana do Castelo, returned during the day to the institution, after having spent the night at the local nursery. The information was confirmed by Father Xavier Moreira, director of the nursing home.

The fire started on Wednesday afternoon and forced the evacuation of the elderly to the local nursery, where they remained overnight. No injuries were reported among the residents.

Father Xavier Moreira revealed the details to the Portuguese news agency, Agência Portuguesa de Notícias (Lusa), explaining that the elderly managed to return to the institution during the day.
