Spain's General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) granted the first national authorization for level 4 autonomous passenger vehicles to circulate on public roads. This authorization represents a historic milestone in the regulation of autonomous vehicles in the country.
The companies that received this authorization are WeRide, Uber, and Avomo, the latter being the autonomous vehicles division of the Moove Cars Group. The three companies will be able to conduct tests with autonomous vehicles on Spanish roads.
The project has the collaboration of the Community of Madrid, which participates as an institutional partner in this autonomous mobility initiative.
With this authorization, Spain takes a significant step in the development and implementation of autonomous vehicle technology, positioning itself among the European countries that allow level 4 autonomous vehicles to circulate on public roads.
