SIC presented on Wednesday its new season under the motto "The Home", with television at the center of the brand's scope. One of the main highlights is a tribute to the late Francisco Pinto Balsemão, with the podcast "Leaving the World Better" gaining new life through a multiplatform movement, associated with a joint project of SIC and construction company Dst, and the awarding of a prize. The idea comes from sister Mónica Balsemão and the big moment arrives on October 21, 2026, the first anniversary of Pinto Balsemão's death, the date on which the "Leaving the World Better" prize officially begins, with applications open that day and the winner known a year later.
Francisco Pedro Balsemão, CEO and chairman of Impresa group, welcomed MFE, which marks precisely six months of its entry as new shareholder. According to Balsemão, "the intended impact of MFE's entry" is being felt in commercial operations, with a pan-European strategy and extensive media experience. In June, Pietro Casiraghi joined from MFE to take on the role of business development director at Impresa, to strengthen the relationship with certain advertisers who may have teams in Portugal but not the decision-making center. Regarding the pan-European streaming platform that MFE is preparing, Balsemão states that "at this moment we have nothing planned in relation to Opto".
In fiction, one of the novelties is "Destino Maior", with premiere scheduled for September 14, starring Sara Barradas, Sofia Ribeiro and Diogo Amaral, airing on SIC, Opto and Disney+. The big announcement is for 2027, with "Avenida Portugal", the Portuguese adaptation of Globo's telenovela "Avenida Brasil", justified by the strength of the original story and the fact that the original aired in Portugal 14 years ago. SIC also premieres on Opto its first vertical novel, through the story of Bibi. In comedy, Fernando Rocha stars in the series "Maximum Risk" and premieres "Great Talents" on Saturdays and "The Afternoon Kings" on Sundays with João Baião.
SIC has managed to secure leadership in the lunch time slot and prime time, and since June it has been pulling away from TVI in monthly audiences. In news, new segments stand out such as "Blue Blood", with Sofia Pinto Coelho. The channel
