Two men were arrested, this Wednesday, September 9, by the PSP in Coimbra, on suspicion of the crimes of resistance and coercion against a public official, namely threats and insults against police officers, and driving without a legal license. The first arrest occurred at 08:20, on Rua de Angola, where the PSP was called following information about an individual who was in public areas threatening passersby. The man, aged 38, was ultimately arrested for driving without a legal license, resistance and coercion against a public official.
The second arrest occurred about an hour later, at 09:20, on Rua da Seda, also in Coimbra. In this case, the PSP was called due to a situation of disorderly conduct that the individual was causing in a commercial establishment. The individual, aged 27, was ultimately arrested for resistance and coercion against a public official, threats and insults against the police officers who intervened at the scene.
Both detainees were notified to appear at the Judicial Court of Coimbra, and were placed under house arrest with registered residence. The authorities highlighted the importance of people cooperating with the security forces, filing complaints or reports when they witness similar situations, in order to facilitate police intervention.
