Farmers demand national support for wine sector

Farmers are demanding national support for the wine sector, considering that a public response is needed that is "fair, coherent and national". The confederation representing the sector warned of the "massive influx" of Spanish wine into the market, which has been harming domestic producers. The organization welcomes the measures already implemented for the Douro region, but believes these are not sufficient. Farmers argue that the Executive must extend support measures to the entire national territory, in order to protect Portuguese production against Spanish competition.
