Ericeira | GNR halts cannabis cultivation and arrests suspect in the act

A 35-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Republican National Guard (GNR), as part of an operation to combat drug trafficking in the municipality of Mafra, which includes the town of Ericeira.

The arrest resulted from an investigation carried out by GNR personnel, which allowed them to identify and intercept the suspect in possession of illegal product. The individual was ultimately arrested in the act.

During the police operation, authorities seized nine cannabis plants in advanced stages of maturation and flowering, 33 doses of cannabis, as well as various packaging materials and equipment for cultivation and storage of the product.

The detainee was made a formal suspect and the case was referred to the Sintra Judicial Court, where it will proceed through legal proceedings.
