Maritime Rescue operation rescues cayuco with 152 migrants off El Hierro

Maritime Rescue rescued a cayuco in waters near the island of El Hierro, in the Canary Islands archipelago, with 152 migrants on board. The group was composed of 130 men and 22 women.

During the rescue operation, the death of one of the people on board the vessel was confirmed. The deceased was part of the group of migrants attempting to reach the Canary Islands.

The authorities proceeded with the rescue of all survivors, who were taken to shore. The cayuco was intercepted in the coastal waters of the westernmost island of the Canarian archipelago.
