The feast in honor of Our Lady of Fevers began the day before yesterday and continues until Monday in the Beira Mar neighborhood. The traditional event celebrates the patron saint of this area of Aveiro and includes various religious and cultural activities throughout the several days.
This year, the feast features for the first time a procession through the channels of the Ria de Aveiro, an initiative that marks a significant difference from previous editions. The float of Our Lady of Fevers will be carried through the waters of the ria, allowing participants a unique experience of devotion in the aquatic context characteristic of the region.
The river procession represents an innovation in the usual program of the festivities, taking advantage of the neighborhood's proximity to the Ria de Aveiro. This change allows devotees and participants to experience the celebration in a different way, combining the religious element with the lagoon landscape that characterizes the city.
The event brings together the local community and visitors around the devotion to Our Lady of Fevers, keeping alive a tradition that takes place annually in this neighborhood of Aveiro.
