On his first campaign agenda in Juiz de Fora (MG), presidential candidate and senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) decided to reproduce the gestures, symbols and route used by his father in the city eight years ago, when the then presidential candidate was the victim of a stabbing during a public agenda. The chosen point for the event was the corner between Halfeld and Batista Oliveira streets, in the city center, exactly the location of the attack.
Flavio Bolsonaro adopted clothes similar to those worn by his father on that occasion, such as the blue shirt Jair was wearing when he was attacked, in addition to repeating characteristic gestures of the former president while greeting the voters present at the location.
The reception to the political heir, however, was cooler than the one received by his father in 2018, both in terms of the audience present and the engagement recorded at the location. The attendance and enthusiasm of supporters were lower than expected for a visit with strong symbolism for the Bolsonaro family.
The visit marks the return of the Bolsonaro family to Juiz de Fora eight years after the infamous episode that marked the history of the Brazilian presidential race, when Jair Bolsonaro suffered the attack during a campaign event while being carried by supporters.
