The residents of the Formula 1 settlement in Valencia live in alarm due to a rumor about an imminent eviction. In recent months, rumors have circulated that the camp will be removed at any moment. The processing of the PAI del Grao keeps the residents anxious, aware that they will eventually have to leave the site, and eager for any information, regardless of the source.
This week, the rumor intensified and a specific date was even set for the hypothetical eviction: Thursday, September 10, which is today. According to what the residents say, a social sector worker leaked this date to a settlement resident.
The information spread rapidly among the 800 people living in the circuit built between 2007 and 2008 to host the European Grand Prix. The camp was set up at that time and has since housed dozens of families, many of immigrant origin.
