Chinese DeepSeek and Moonshot Prepare Stock Market Listings — Press

SAPO Notícias10 September 2026 at 06:15

DeepSeek and Moonshot, two prominent companies in China's emerging artificial intelligence sector, are preparing stock market listings in the coming months. According to sources cited by the press, DeepSeek plans its listing in Shanghai, while Moonshot expects to debut on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

Both companies are considered leaders in China's growing AI ecosystem, a sector that has been gaining greater relevance in the global technology landscape. DeepSeek has gained particular notoriety recently, especially after the launch of its open-source language model, which impressed with its capability and efficiency compared to Western alternatives.

The timing for these operations comes amid growing international interest in the development of artificial intelligence in China. The IPO plans of these companies come weeks after DeepSeek disrupted global technology markets with the announcement of low-cost AI models.

The information was reported by sources close to the process, who indicated that preparations for both stock market listings are proceeding in parallel. No details about the expected valuation for either company have been revealed yet, nor specific dates for the launches.

Moderate tax burden, but high fiscal effort

Portugal does not stand out in the European Union for having a particularly high tax burden as a percentage of GDP, ranking only 20th. However, when the tax burden is analyzed in relation to the Portuguese people's contributory capacity — measured by their relative standard of living — the country has the 6th highest fiscal effort in the EU, precisely because the standard of living has fallen to the 6th lowest, according to new population data released by Statistics Portugal (INE). The comparison with Eastern European countries reinforces this conclusion, with Portugal having been overtaken by several of them in terms of standard of living and losing part of the fiscal advantage it previously maintained.
