António Costa meets Luís Montenegro in São Bento to discuss EU budget

António Costa, President of the European Council, met with Luís Montenegro in São Bento to discuss the European Union budget. The meeting is part of a tour through the capitals of the 27 Member States that the President of the European Council is undertaking.

This is the third time António Costa undertakes this type of visit to the European capitals, having carried out similar initiatives in 2024 and 2025. The objective is to maintain direct contact with all leaders of the Member States.

Costa intends to visit all Member States by September 17, thus completing his round through all European capitals. Sweden is the only exception, as it is holding legislative elections next Sunday.
