Middle East: Iran rejects links with Houthi rebels after US accusations

Iran rejected today the accusations made by the United States that Yemen's Houthi rebels are affiliated with Tehran. Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs defended that the Houthis are "an independent Yemeni actor, that makes its own decisions", denying any formal connection or dependency of the movement in relation to Iran. This position comes following American accusations that have been associating Tehran with the attacks carried out by the rebels in the broader context of the Middle East. The Iranian response thus seeks to publicly disprove the narrative defended by the US administration, which has been holding Iran responsible for the actions of armed groups aligned with the Islamic Republic in the region.
