EU grants approximately R$ 680 million to Spain for migration crisis in Ceuta

The European Union granted, on Wednesday, an emergency aid of €114.7 million (R$ 680 million) to Spain to support the management of the autonomous city of Ceuta after the mass arrival of migrants from Morocco at the end of July.

According to the European Commission, the resources will be mainly destined for strengthening border surveillance, acquisition of equipment, such as thermal cameras, and mobilization of additional personnel.

The package also aims to support the return of people in irregular situations in Ceuta and expand the reception capacity for unaccompanied minors in the Spanish autonomous city.
